"Carpe Lignum, Torne Lignum"  "Seize the Wood, Turn the Wood"

I  work from my home in Letterkenny County Donegal, without doubt the most beautiful county in Ireland. I have been enjoying the craft of wood-turning for many years. There is something very special about finding a piece of wood and making something beautiful and original with it. I feel privileged to be working with such a wonderful natural material.

90% of the wood I use is sourced locally, such as off cuts from a local timber mill, fallen trees, cuttings, bogland etc.

Sometimes I use some exotic hardwood, such as zebrano, Afican blackwood, ebony etc. which I buy from a local supplier and is also from sustainable sources.

Each of my turnings is created to bring out the natural grain, textures and patterns which have been created by mother nature in the wood.

I am an active member of the North-West chapter of the Irish Wood-turners Guild, where I occasionally demonstrate to fellow members.I also demonstrate from time to time at markets and am available for group demonstations.
